What is Mutte?
Mutte is a messaging app being built for friends, small groups, and everyday life. The idea is simple: follow the discussions that matter to you, choose when you’re open to a chat, and give finished plans a place in Quiet.
Can I download it yet?

Does this preview create an account?
No. The interactive phone uses fictional conversations. Its controls change the demonstration in this page; they don’t create an account, send messages, upload files or take payments. Refreshing the page resets the demo.
Will Mutte be free?
Yes. The consumer product is planned as a free, ad-free service funded by voluntary support. Supporting Mutte won’t buy extra messaging features, priority delivery, or access to anyone’s data.
Does Quiet mean leaving a conversation?
No. Quiet changes where a conversation lives for you and turns its notifications off. It doesn’t leave the group or delete your history. Bringing it back to Chats keeps notifications off until you choose to change them.
What about privacy?
Private messaging is the foundation of Mutte’s direction. End-to-end encryption is the intended release baseline, and security review, device trust, and recovery work must be completed before public launch. The current alpha is not a production-ready privacy guarantee. Website privacy information →
